Humans of Detroit

October 26, 2013

“I was born here and I will probably die here. I grew up on the west side of Detroit. I got in trouble a lot when I was younger. I played sports in high school and that was my gold. But I skipped school a lot and tried to hang out with the older crowd. I was with the wrong crowd. I started smoking weed and I didn’t finish school. I dropped out when I was 17. I would tell kids these days to stay in school and find someone who can give you sound advice. I didn’t have that–I never knew my father. I tell me three daughters all the time to stay in school and not get caught up on peer pressure.”
