“I have lived and reared 8 children for 14 years, owned several properties, and I have never been robbed. Their was a radio personal that came into our community and showed the worst parts of our block. Their were beautiful houses that he could have shown but he didn’t. I was upset about that, we have some negatives but we also have some great positives here too. This is Old Redford Neighborhood and we’re going through what they call a gentrification. Where they’re gonna knock down all the houses, redevelop it, but people like me will not be able to afford to live here. Like they did in Harlem and in many of the major cities around the country. It’s good to see improvements, but I know they’re not done for me and people like me.
Right now we’re living under a police state. They want us out! I use to call the police and they would not come, now, I see them around my house 5-10 times a day.”
